CLM wrapped up 2022 with its final Focus learning event on Dec. 1, 2022, in New York City, then celebrated afterward by hosting its annual holiday party near Bryant Park.

Attendees had the opportunity to choose from 17 educational sessions during the day, which “focused” on topics like extra-contractual, insurance coverage, and insurance fraud. One popular extra-contractual session included, “Don’t Call It a Claims Manual!: The Role That Insurer Claims Guidelines and Best Practices Can Play,” which concentrated on the role these materials can play in claims handling and extra-contractual claims and litigation. Another timely session included, “Holiday Cheers or Tears: Coverage and Casualty Issues Brought on by Holiday Hijinks,” which analyzed coverage issues related to cases originating from Christmas, New Year’s, Mardi Gras, St. Patrick’s Day, Halloween, and even Independence Day. From an insurance fraud perspective, the catchily phrased session entitled, “OK Boomer! It’s Still Fraud,” addressed the recognition and investigation of fraudulent claims presented by older claimants, and how the evolution of claims handling following COVID-19 exacerbated a growing problem.

After the day of learning concluded, attendees headed over to Bryant Park Grill for an evening of networking and fun that included a jazz trio and a raffle presentation of three gift cards to Tiffany and Co. Thank you to our sponsors Esquire Deposition Services, Clearspeed, Wilson Elser, ARCCA, Axis Consulting, Caseglide, Consilio, Foundation AI, U.S. Legal Support, and Winget Spadafora Schwartzberg LLP, as well as all of our exhibitors.
