What a Year

December is always a great time for reflection, of considering the gifts we’ve been given and those that we wish to bestow. With that in mind, I would be remiss if I didn’t immediately thank all of those CLM members and fellows who contributed to making it a very successful first year for CLM Magazine.

We were excited to “launch” this publication a year ago, a term I use loosely since the magazine was really the result of merging two well-established and successful publications—Litigation Management and Claims Management magazines—into one, but it’s been no less thrilling to see the magazine mature with each issue. Your individual insights and contributions serve the greater whole, and the commitment from our local chapters and committees/communities to deliver excellent collaborative, educational content makes the publication more than just an association magazine; it’s a publication that guarantees an industry of insurance claims, risk, and litigation professionals stay up to date on the issues and topics that matter most to them.

Outside of the magazine, watching our ClaimVets program morph into a fundraising powerhouse called the CLM Foundation has been one of my proudest accomplishments of 2017. No longer strictly focused on finding veterans who are looking for a career in insurance and providing them with training—although that remains a big emphasis—the CLM Foundation (and its driven board of insurance and risk executives led by The Wendy’s Company’s Bob Bowman and Comcast NBCUniversal’s Deborah Saunders) have been able to bring in $75,000 in funding for our three charities this year: Darkness to Light, Kids’ Chance of America, and The Honor Foundation.

Thank you for your commitment to CLM and for making us the best in every way when it comes to giving back. I look forward to more exciting and rewarding projects in 2018!
