Katie Grove discovered the field of workers’ compensation litigation by chance—the team at McAngus Goudelock & Courie (MGC) thought she would enjoy the work, and 12 years later, she can say with confidence that they were right.

Grove’s career-defining moment was the first time she received a direct referral as a young associate. She was entrusted with the freedom to handle the claim from beginning to end and loved every second of it. That is when she not only knew she was going to stay in this line of work, but also developed the confidence she needed to succeed over the years.

Now, Grove is a partner at MGC and her superb work has been recognized by various legal and business publications. She is president of the Greenville Bar Association. Within CLM, she is a Litigation Management Institute graduate and was a speaker at the 2023 Work Comp, Casualty & Risk Management Conference.

What she is most proud of, however, is her work involving diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). Having benefitted from the wisdom and support of several women lawyers, Grove strives to offer the same career guidance to other women. At MGC, she is involved with WIN, the firm’s Women’s initiative; and Belong, the firm’s DEI initiative.

As Grove’s nominator said, “She is everything a client looks for: a selfless law partner, a DEI champion, and mature way beyond her years.”
