Biography

Dana Marie Applegate has been in the insurance industry for over 25 years, primarily in Claims roles.  Ms. Applegate is currently Senior Vice President, Claims for Coaction Specialty Insurance and is responsible for Litigation Management, Subrogation, SIU, Claims Quality, Claims Systems, London Syndicate run-off, and Legacy Asbestos, Environmental and Mass Torts. Prior to joining Coaction (formerly ProSight Specialty) in 2020, Ms. Applegate was the Director of Claims Vendor and Litigation Management for Markel, responsible for managing over $200 million in annual legal spend for US and Bermuda claims emanating from 25 product lines.  She has held a variety of responsibilities in Claims and corporate project management, including international assignments in London and Toronto. Ms. Applegate enjoys public speaking and has addressed large and intimate crowds on topics such as ‘Adapting and Thriving: The Tools Women Need in Today’s Evolving Work Environment’, ‘Leading Through Chaos: How to be a eader in times of crisis’, ‘Metrics, Analytics and AI’, 'Better Control Your Legal Spend Using Data You Already Have', 'The Path to Leadership and Diffusing Gender Bias as an Aspiring Executive', and 'The Road to Gender Equality: micro-inequities in the workplace and breaking the glass ceiling'.  Her insurance career includes home office and field adjuster positions with Crum & Forster and Amica Mutual.  Prior to insurance, she worked as a paralegal in government affairs and in state politics as a legislative analyst.  Ms. Applegate received her undergraduate degree in Political Science from The College of New Jersey and holds a designation for Certified Litigation Management Professional. She enjoys quality time with her family along with traveling, watching/playing sports, cooking, reading, and local philanthropic efforts.
