David A. Goldman, a member of the state and federal bars of both Massachusetts and Rhode Island, has been involved in asbestos litigation since 1987. Mr. Goldman manages the Firm's Rhode Island asbestos practice and handles cases in both state and federal court. In 2011, he won a motion for summary judgment in MDL 875 in which the court, for the first time, held that expert witness testimony concerning a plaintiff's work with the specific product at issue could not substitute for the lack of lay witness testimony, and dismissed the claims against his client. He has extensive experience defending manufacturers of a wide variety of products including boilers, press pads, electrical equipment, talc, floor and ceiling tile, valves, and pumps. He has defended and negotiated the successful resolution of hundreds of cases and offers a perspective unique to the defense as he previously represented plaintiffs.
In May of 2013, Mr. Goldman presented on cyber liability issues at the Environmental & Emerging Claim Manager Association (EECMA) Conference. More recently, he spoke on asbestos litigation issues at the National Forum for Environmental & Toxic Tort Issues (FETTI) 2013 Conference and the Rhode Island Bar Association’s Annual Meeting in June of 2014.
Mr. Goldman is rated "AV" by Martindale-Hubbell, signifying the highest level of legal knowledge, analytical capabilities, judgment, communication ability, and legal experience.
