Biography
Stephen Murphy is a Shareholder at Sandberg Phoenix & von Gontard P.C. In 2015, he earned his Certified Litigation Management Professional designation after attending the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance’s Litigation Management Institute.
He focuses his practice in the areas of business litigation and insurance law (primarily coverage and bad faith). Steve has handled all phases of litigation, from claim investigation, commencing litigation, discovery, motions for summary judgment, mediation and trial. He has also successfully resolved cases through arbitration. Steve routinely authors featured articles for the firm’s Insurance Coverage Team’s E-Newsletter and is responsible for authoring the E-Newsletter’s Missouri Case Spotlight for each edition, which keeps him abreast of new developments in Missouri insurance law. He represents a diverse clientele, including large businesses, professionals and individuals. Steve is admitted to practice law in Missouri and Illinois. He earned his Juris Doctor, Magna Cum Laude, from Southern Illinois University School of Law in 2004 and was a member of the Southern Illinois University Law Journal. He received his B.S. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1995.
