Biography
Rick has more than 30 years of marine insurance experience. Starting his career with Lamorte Burns & Co representing P&I Clubs by investigating and adjusting major marine claims. He has since worked as a Claims Manager at Gallagher Marine Systems, Inc, Reliance National and XL Marine & Offshore Energy. Rick is a former Chairman of the WQIS Loss Committee and a graduate of the USCG Yorktown, VA Reserve Training Center, Crisis Management Program and was designated primary “Qualified Individual” as per OPA ’90 for over 130 tank vessels providing expertise in Response Management on both real and simulated Marine Casualty responses.Since joining Markel in June 2007 Rick has served as Claims Manager for Markel Global Marine and Energy, Inc. and Vice President for Markel International U.S. Claims Service. He is currently the Director, Marine Claims for Markel North America.
