Biography
Mariela Perez-Pennock began her insurance career in 1988 with Progressive Insurance in Tampa, FL. She is currently the Director of SIU at Assurant, based out of Miami, FL. Prior to Assurant, she was the SIU Manager for Olympus Insurance. She was also the SIU Manager for North American Risk Services (NARS), a Third-Party Administrator, overseeing fraud initiatives for over 50 clients. Mariela's career encompasses being a Special Agent with the National Insurance Crime Bureau, as part of the Mid-Atlantic Medical Fraud Task Force, covering PA, NJ, and DE. Prior to moving to the Northeast, Mariela was the SIU Medical Fraud Manager for Nationwide Insurance. She has also held SIU positions with Travelers and Safe Auto Insurance. Mariela attended the University of South Florida with a double major in Criminal Justice and Voice Performance. She holds FCLS, CCA, and CATI designations. In 2019, Mariela was the recipient of the Jerry Zappolo Distinguished Service Award, the highest honor and most prestigious award presented to an individual by the FIFEC (Florida Insurance Fraud Education Committee) Board of Directors.
