Biography

LaBella Alvis is a partner in the Litigation and Insurance Practice Group at Christian & Small LLP in Birmingham, Alabama. She represents insurance companies and self-insured clients in a broad range of matters throughout the state of Alabama involving retail and restaurant liability, including employment liability, professional liability, commercial transportation allegations, coverage issues and liquor liability. LaBella brings an added dimension of experience to the defense of liquor liability claims with her certification as an ABC Board Vendor Trainer. She has successfully defended to a verdict numerous liquor liability cases. LaBella’s distinguished legal talents are recognized by Best Lawyers in America, Benchmark Litigation, in which she was listed as one of the Top 250 Women in Litigation throughout the country, and Alabama Super Lawyers, in which she has been ranked among the Top 25 Women Lawyers in Alabama for the last 5 years. She is a Fellow of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers and was recently elected to a three-year term on its Board of Directors. LaBella received her undergraduate degree from Auburn University, her Masters in Communication from the University of Houston, and her J.D. from Cumberland School of Law at Samford University. Away from the office, LaBella is an avid horseback rider. She competes in, and has won many, hunter/jumper and dressage competitions.
