Biography

Mr. Schrimpf joined American Mining Insurance Company in April 2009 in his present capacity.  American Mining Insurance Company, A Berkley Company, serves the Domestic Mining Industry and its attendant risks (Transportation; Mine Construction/Preparation; Drillers; Blasters; Mining Equipment and Repair; etc.) with Insurance Products designed to meet the particular needs of the Mining Industry.  In His current capacity, Mr. Schrimpf oversees the Claims functions of American Mining Insurance Company operating out of 4 regional Claims Offices and the General Corporate Legal Issues from the Home Office in Birmingham, Alabama.
Prior to joining American Mining Insurance Company, Mr. Schrimpf was a Partner in the Law Firm of Pietragallo,  Bosick and Gordon in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where he served as litigation counsel for his Clients in the Workers Compensation arena, Federal Black Lung, Civil Litigation and Risk Management.  He has lectured and written articles regarding Medical/Legal issues in Occupational Disease litigation and in Federal Black Lung Litigation.  Mr. Schrimpf has extensive litigation experience in Occupational Disease, Federal Black Lung and Workers Compensation claims having litigated in these arenas for nearly 22 years prior to joining American Mining Insurance Company.
Mr. Schrimpf is a graduate of The University of Steubenville (1983, B.S.) after stints at the United States Air Force Academy and the University of California at Irvine.  He received his Juris Doctor from the Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in May 1987.  He received his license to practice law in November of 1987.  He is licensed to practice Law in Pennyslvania State and Federal courts, The 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals, and the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals.
