Biography
Ron Harrell is retired, but is accepting consulting & expert witness engagements. He was Senior Vice President and U.S. Claims Officer for Catalina U.S. Insurance Services LLC, a member of Catalina Holdings (Bermuda) Ltd. Group. He managed the claim operation and also oversees third party administrators managing runoff claims for Sparta Insurance Company.
Prior to Catalina, Ron was Vice President, Claims for Crum & Forster. Ron began his insurance career with Farmers Insurance Group in 1981. He continued his career at Wausau Insurance, working first in the Boise Service Office as a Resident Adjuster before moving to Portland, OR as a Supervisor in the Pacific Northwest Regional Office where he managed major commercial liability and workers compensation losses.
In 1990, Ron began his career with Great West Casualty Company in Boise, where he began developing his expertise in transportation claims. Initially, he was responsible for overseeing large losses occurring in the Western U.S. and Canada. Ron was Manager and Vice President of Claims for the Western Region from 1996 to 2001. He also worked as a Truck Underwriter for two years.
Beginning in 2004 and until joining C&F in 2009, Ron produced and serviced truck business for a regional transportation brokerage, Hub International and Columbia Insurance Services. He also consulted with trucking companies on claims issues.
A native of the state of Idaho, Ron lives in San Diego, California with his wife, Diane. He graduated from Boise State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. In addition, he has earned the designations of Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Associate In Risk Management (ARM), Associate In Claims (AIC), Associate In Reinsurance (ARe), Associate in Underwriting (AU) and Workers Compensation Claims Law Associate (WCLA).
