Donald Kearns

Biography

Donnie Kearns currently serves as Senior Director of Internal Investigations with Nationwide Insurance in Columbus, Ohio.  In that role, he is responsible for the investigations into allegations of fraud and misconduct involving associates and agents.  Previously, he served as Director in the Special Investigations Unit providing oversight to SIU technology initiatives, special projects and the SIU Intelligence Operation.  In that role, he steer headed the development of the first ever predictive model fraud detection technology at Nationwide.  During his 22 year career at Nationwide, Mr. Kearns has also held the positions of SIU Manager and Investigator in North Carolina.  Prior to Nationwide, he was employed by the Charlotte Police Department in North Carolina where he was a fraud investigator in the Criminal Investigations Division.During his 29 year professional career, Mr. Kearns has held various training certifications in both the law enforcement and insurance industries.  His training forums have included State and Local government agencies, colleges, insurance companies and organizations and civic groups.  He has also given presentations at the Insurance Fraud Management Conference, Association of Insurance Compliance Professionals and the ACE/SCLA Conference.  He is a past President and board member of the North Carolina Insurance Crime Information Exchange and holds the designation of Fraud Claims Law Specialist.  In 2013, Mr. Kearns was recognized by Strathmore’s Who’s Who as Professional of the Year for Insurance/Internal Fraud Investigations.
