Lori Wirkus

Biography

As Managing Partner at Flynn|Wirkus|Young and Co-Chair of FWY's Medicare Compliance Group, Lori's legal work is concentrated on civil litigation and Medicare compliance and recovery resolution. As a civil litigator, she handles all aspects of the firm's national litigation practice, trying cases, conducting and defending depositions, drafting pleadings, discovery and dispositive motions, attending mediations, and arguing motions in state and federal courts throughout New England, the Mid-West and the Mid-Atlantic. As Co-Chair of the FWY's Medicare Compliance Group, she serves as National Medicare Counsel for multiple insurers, advising and counseling them throughout all phases of the Medicare Secondary Payer Process, including Section 111 mandatory reporting, Medicare conditional payment/lien resolution, Medicare Advantage Plan lien resolution, systems auditing, training, Medicare set aside preparation and allowance. 

In her role as Managing Partner, Lori is responsible for overseeing all aspects of a complex, multi-million dollar law firm.  She maintains client relationships, while still focusing on new business development, and she manages FWY's business and billing operations, develops and implements the firm's strategic goals, procedures and policies and she oversees all hiring and personnel activities.  Lori is a certified mediator and frequent speaker to peers, clients and industry professionals on a range of legal issues, such as defending against cutting-edge plaintiff lawyer tactics, law firm management and case preparation, trial practice and Medicare compliance and strategies. Lori is a former President of the CLM Massachusetts Chapter.
