William A Walsh Early in his insurance-industry career, Bill worked as an adjuster for a number of major carriers (e.g. Metropolitan Property and Casualty, Royal, and CNA). For the last 18 years, however, Bill has worked for Community Association Underwriters of America – known as “CAU” – a specialty condominium carrier headquartered in Newtown, PA. CAU is one of the largest insurance providers in the country exclusively serving community associations, residential and office condominiums, cooperative apartments and homeowners associations. Founded in 1989, the company is a leader in community-association insurance protection. Writing in 33 states, CAU provides insurance for thousands of associations with hundreds of thousands of units.
Currently serving as AIS & CAU’s AVP, Bill oversees all aspects of its large loss and subrogation pursuits. In this role, Bill established – and continues to fine tune – CAU’s best practices to maximize claim-payment recoveries. Along the way, Bill created and instituted requirements for independent adjusters’ reporting and claim handling protocols as well as for forensic experts’ reporting and evidence handling. Besides his subrogation-related duties at CAU, Bill handles all first-party suits against the company. In addition, Bill commonly testifies as an expert witness concerning damages and other facets of claim handling.
