Joseph Panatera

Biography

Joseph A. Panatera is a partner in the firm's Chicago and Merrillville offices. Joseph concentrates his practice on civil litigation, with an emphasis on transportation, products liability, medical malpractice, and civil rights. Joseph represents trucking companies in lawsuits involving serious personal injury and/or death. He also has extensive experience defending civil rights claims in State and Federal Court and defending physicians, hospitals and medical groups against medical malpractice and institutional negligence claims. Joseph has tried multiple cases to verdict in both Illinois and Indiana, and frequently resolves cases through arbitration and mediation.

Joseph is involved in all aspects of the defense of his clients from initial investigation through trial. Throughout his career, Joseph has represented both defendants and plaintiffs in complex matters involving trucking accidents, medical malpractice, product liability, and civil rights claims. His experience allows him to provide clients with a unique understanding of the thoughts, tactics and strategies from both sides of a lawsuit.

Joseph is actively involved in several professional organizations including the Defense Research Institute (DRI), Illinois Trucking Association, Trucking Industry Defense Association, Chicago Healthcare Risk Management Society, and Claims and Litigation Management Alliance. Joseph has also been recognized as a Super Lawyer Rising Star by Thomson Reuters and was named “40 under Forty” attorneys to watch by the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin.
