Biography

Wendy Schaffer is Senior Counsel in the Office of General Counsel and Secretary for the Illinois Agricultural Association and Affiliated Companies.  She has been with the Office of the General Counsel since December of 2007.  Her responsibilities include management of litigation matters (with exception of employment litigation) against the insurance companies.  This responsibly includes the coordination of efforts, management and projects involving preservation and production of electronic documents subject to legal holds and discovery.
Prior to joining the Office of General Counsel, Wendy was the Manager of the Litigated Claims Department for COUNTRY® Financial beginning in January of 2000.  She began her career at COUNTRY as a Claims Attorney in 1994.  Previous to her employment at COUNTRY, she was an associate attorney at the law firm of O’Connor, Schiff and Myers and at the law firm of Williams and Montgomery in Chicago, specializing in medical malpractice and insurance defense.  She also worked as a registered nurse/assistant head nurse at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Illinois, and as a registered nurse at Rush Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Hospital in Chicago in the medical intensive care units.
Wendy graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing.  She received her Juris Doctorate from DePaul University College of Law with Honors.  She also has received the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter designation.
