Peter Garza

Biography

Peter Garza leads DTI’s computer forensics consulting practice on the west coast. Mr. Garza has worked as a consulting, independent or testifying expert in hundreds of cases which often involve forensic analysis and discovery processing of large multi-terabyte data sets. The computer forensics lab and forensic consulting team he leads are often called upon to perform analysis of data in theft of trade secrets cases, contract disputes, computer intrusion and data breach investigations along with other types of litigation.Mr. Garza often consults in pre-litigation evaluation and investigation involving computer evidence matters. Mr. Garza also crafts effective discovery protocols to deal with privilege, privacy and relevancy issues and often consults on preservation and collection in discovery matters. Mr. Garza has provided expert testimony at trial and depositions in both state and federal court.Before coming to DTI, Mr. Garza served as a Special Agent with the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (“NCIS”) for over ten years. In that role he recovered and analyzed a wide array of computer evidence, including electronic business records used to expose defense procurement fraud as well as electronic evidence used in successful criminal and counterintelligence investigations.Mr. Garza earned a Master of Science in Information Systems from Claremont Graduate University.
