Susan Pilon

Biography

Susan Pilon began her career in the insurance industry handling multi-lines claims at The Hartford Insurance Company. During her 15 year tenure there, she focused the last 6 years solely in Workers’ Compensation.Since 1994 she has continued her career in the Workers’ Compensation field at RTW Inc./State Auto Insurance Companies.  During her 33 year career Susan has worked in technical, training, compliance and managerial roles.  She has led and taken the Project Manager role for several key initiatives over the years. She was also responsible for creating the Workers' Compensation policy and procedures, training manuals, new hire training materials, as well as the quality assurance program.  Through these endeavors, she has conducted extensive training for the claims organization.In her managerial role, she co-led the merger of RTW, Inc.’s claim organization with the State Auto Workers Compensation department in 2009.  She was responsible for the training and implementation and integration of an enhanced claim management model with RTW’s proprietary ID15® and nurse case management model.Ms. Pilon is currently the Claim Manager of the Large Loss and Litigation teams as well as the Workers Compensation Compliance Team.  She is responsible for the high cost, complex litigation files as well as the overall statutory and regulatory claim compliance and training of the Workers Compensation Line of Business.
