Penny Wright is the Senior Risk Claims Manager for Sunstate Equipment Co., which was founded by Mike Watts in 1977 in Phoenix, AZ. Sunstate provides construction, industrial, and special event companies with top-quality construction rental equipment and tools. Currently, Sunstate has rental locations in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and Washington.
With 30 years of experience in the insurance industry, Penny is an integral part of Sunstate’s Risk Management team. She is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing a comprehensive and efficient risk, insurance and claims management process that minimizes costs and optimizes care. Penny takes great pride in being an advocate for others. Penny has extensive knowledge and expertise in risk management, insurance, as well as claims and litigation management. Penny also has over 25 years of supervisory and managerial experience.
Penny received her Bachelor of Science in Management from Southern Illinois University. Her professional credentials also include a Senior Claim Law Associate (SCLA) designation from the American Educational Institute, and she is also a licensed Property and Casualty Producer. Penny is actively involved with two professional organizations - CLM and RIMS. In August 2018, Penny was featured in CLM magazine article CLM Voices: Getting to Know Penny Wright, since 2020 Penny serves as Vice President of the Arizona Central chapter of RIMS, and in 2021 Penny was a finalist for CLM Claims Professional of the Year award.
Penny enjoys spending time outdoors with family and friends. She also enjoys reading, traveling, attending sporting events, concerts, and plays. Penny likes to give back at work and in her community. She is a member of Sunstate's Wellness Committee, contributes to Sunstate's Foundation, and supports local charities, such as the American Heart Association and Prostate On-Site Project.
