Biography
As Director, Insurable Risk for Direct Energy, Michelle Wilkerson is responsible for developing the North American risk management department and providing leadership and management for all aspects of the insurance and claims handling programs. Michelle joined Direct Energy in 2012 after managing the global insurance program for Newfield Exploration and holding a risk management role at Anadarko Petroleum Corporation.
Direct Energy is one of the largest providers of electricity, natural gas and related services in North America. With approximately 6,000 employees, Direct Energy is active in upstream (Canadian natural gas), midstream (supply and trading) and downstream delivery (electricity and natural gas) and operates in 10 Canadian provinces and 46 US states plus the District of Columbia. Direct Energy is wholly-owned by Centrica plc, one of the world’s leading integrated energy companies.
Michelle holds a BBA from Walsingham University, is a member of the Zurich North American Energy Risk Management Advisory Council, Houston Energy Risk Managers group and is serving as current President and Treasurer of the Risk and Insurance Management Society Houston Chapter.
