Biography

Melanie G. Tyree is a Risk Control Specialist with Catholic Mutual Group (CMG). Melanie graduated from West Virginia University and is in her tenth year with CMG. She is part of a team responsible for assisting members with identifying risks and implementing measures to prevent losses. She has 11 years’ experience working with Catholic entities and 15 years of providing multi-line claims adjusting and supervision. Melanie’s specialty involves working with social service agencies across the country to help further their mission, while reducing their risk exposures.

Catholic Mutual Group is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, tax-exempt organization, founded on February 1, 1889 by a group of Midwestern Catholic bishops to provide financial protection from fire and other causes of loss to Catholic owned properties. CMG is part of the Catholic Church that serves only Church-owned institutions. Our Board of Trustees consists exclusively of cardinals, archbishops and bishops.

Ms. Tyree recently co-presented the 2018 CLM Webinar Series, “That Takes the Cake: Religious Beliefs and Secular Liability”.  Additionally, Melanie presented a panel conversation at the 2016 CLM Midwest Conference titled, “Let Me Help You - Out of a Million Dollars: The Truth About Volunteer Liability & Risk Management.” In 2015, she had the distinct pleasure of conducting a Risk Management Workshop at the Catholic Charities USA Annual Gathering.
