Biography

Lori A. Shay has spent the last nine years, working as an in-house as a Litigation Counsel for Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. Ms. Shay’s primary focus was overseeing hospitality-centric litigation including arbitration and mediation, dispute resolution and contract negotiation. She regularly partnered with senior management to lead corporate regulatory compliance, arbitration, due diligence, and legal contract administration. She also managed outside counsel to operationalize corporate eDiscovery management efforts, supervise high-risk litigation and resolve contractual disputes.  After Starwood’s acquisition by Marriott International Inc. in 2016, Lori was retained for a year to work as an in-house attorney on the Dispute Resolution team at Marriott. She was responsible for the handling of all of the Starwood hotel legacy claims and litigation.  Ms. Shay has over 25 years of litigation experience.  Prior to joining Starwood, Ms. Shay worked in private practice with an emphasis on personal injury litigation prosecution and defense. She also had her own firm for a number of years where she handled real estate, litigation and small commercial matters. She has a JD from Syracuse University College of Law and she has a BA from the University of New Hampshire.  She is an active member of the Woman in eDiscovery NYC chapter, The Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel, The Academy of Hospitality Industry Attorneys- AHIA and ACC/Westchester, Southern Connecticut
