Biography

Mr. Bergman gives presentations and publishes articles on green building components, contracts, standard of care, and precautionary strategies. He has been invited on CLM speaker panels including:  “Effective Use of Mediation” – 2019 CLM San Diego Chapter Event, and  “Energy Efficiency, Green Buildings and Sustainable Construction Emerging Litigation Trends for Design Professionals” – 2018 CLM Business Insurance Construction Conference, Chicago, IL.

Bruce M. Bergman, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP, is a principal architect with Xpera Group (www.xperagroup.com) the West Coast’s most comprehensive team of construction consultants and strategic advisors for the built environment. 

Mr. Bergman oversees Xpera Group’s forensic architecture services, provides architect expert witness and forensic consultant services for a variety of construction litigation cases, and collaborates with Xpera Group’s specialty divisions of Quality Assurance and Real Estate consulting services. He integrates forensic architecture, risk mitigation strategies, and sustainable design and construction. 

Mr. Bergman is a licensed architect in California, Nevada, Arizona, and Hawaii. His professional practice in architecture began in 1980, his accomplishments include more than 45 residential and commercial design projects. Since 1996, Mr. Bergman has specialized in forensic architecture where he provides professional consulting and expertise in construction defect litigation matters. During 2016 and 2017 he worked for two high-profile architectural firms as a risk mitigation advisor and construction administrator.

His experience in response to claims ranges in a variety of building types including: High-rise and mid-rise multifamily, mixed-use, schools, retail, single-family custom homes, and production housing.

As a LEED AP BD+C accredited professional, Mr. Bergman has volunteered with a team of USGBC professionals in the assessment and development of energy and environmental design solutions for green building certification.
