Tom Gesner is the Vice President of Construction Defect with Applied Claims Group. Following his graduation from high school, Tom served on Active Duty with the U.S. Marine Corps and after serving our country, he attended the University of Maine at Fort Kent obtaining his A.A. in Criminal Justice and B.S. in Social Sciences. He was employed as a Reserve Police Officer while in college and briefly attended Cal Western School of Law before beginning his career with Farmers Insurance in San Diego. Tom has worked in the insurance industry over 30 years handling both personal and commercial lines, including educator's legal liability, municipalities’ legal liability and environmental tort with extensive experience in construction defect. He was part of the original construction defect litigation team at Golden Eagle. Tom has experience as a Quality Assurance Claims Auditor responsible for project management, development of best practices and claims auditing. He was also a Home Office Examiner responsible for the oversight of Large Loss Litigation CD claims and direct handling of multiple jurisdiction Developer and General Contractor claims. As a HO Examiner, Tom was also responsible for Surety Bond, Cargo, Excess and International claims while supervising claims with large reserves in the TX and IL claims operations. Growing up he spent many years working for his father (a General Contractor) as a Carpenter's Helper developing construction skills that would later prove valuable while handling CD claims at several different levels.
