Biography
Hugo V. Alvarez is a Shareholder at Becker & Poliakoff. He concentrates his practice on complex civil and commercial litigation throughout Florida. Mr. Alvarez has successfully litigated a large volume of cases with significant financial exposure. He has defended Fortune 500 companies, prominent real estate developers, professional sports teams, insurance companies, municipalities, financial institutions, general contractors, attorneys, and others. He has successfully prosecuted and led national subrogation efforts for his clients. His extensive court room experience enables him to develop appropriate strategies for quick and successful case evaluation and resolution.
Mr. Alvarez acknowledges that his success is measured by the success of his clients. He understands that his clients come to him to solve their legal needs. He is responsive. He provides perspective. He seeks solutions together. He is tenacious and tactical in his practice. For over ten years he has been solving and resolving complex and sensitive litigation, corporate and real estate matters for his clients throughout Florida.
Mr. Alvarez has worked on such high profile cases such as the 1995 American Airlines plane crash in Cali, Colombia that involved the unfortunate death of over 100 passengers, while also representing such high profile clients like the Miami Dolphins at trial. Mr. Alvarez has conducted State of Florida accredited seminars discussing the implications of fraud in litigation and the recourse litigants have to combat fraud in litigation. Mr. Alvarez has also had numerous articles published discussing such topics as nursing home abuse, premises liability claims, and bad faith litigation. He has also had his opinions published in the USA Today.
Mr. Alvarez is a Miami native and a Christopher Columbus High School graduate. He received his law degree from the Tulane University School of Law, and his BA from the University of Maine.
