Biography

Kathy Martin’s professional career in insurance began in 2000 when she was part of an asbestos litigation team. She joined the Environmental Claim Department of AIG in 2006 and worked on a number of high profile environmental claims utilizing structured settlements. She joined the AIG Structured Settlements Department in 2010. In November 2015 Kathy took over the largest Property and Casualty Structured Settlement Program in the nation. Kathy is a proponent of the utilization of periodic payments in settlement negotiations of bodily injury, workers comp and non-qual matters. She prioritizes educating claim professionals, staff counsel and panel counsel on the use of structured settlements. Kathy is an active member of NSSTA and serves on the Legs & Regs Committee, Growth Committee, the Structured Settlements Analytics Sub Committee and the Next Gen Committee.
Kathy has a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Chemistry from Calvin College, Grand Rapids, Michigan. Kathy pursued a Ph.D. in Psycho Neuro Immunology at the University of Pittsburgh and obtained a Juris Doctorate from the Western Michigan University Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan. She earned her Certified Structured Settlements Consultant designation in 2010 and her Master’s Certificate in Structured Settlement Consulting designation in 2016.
