Judge Ralph Humphries

Biography

Judge Ralph Humphries has practiced law in Jacksonville, Florida since his admission to the Florida Bar in 1977. Since 1984, until his appointment as a Judge of Compensation Claims in December 2010, he practiced primarily in the area of insurance defense to include medical malpractice defense, personal injury litigation and workers’ compensation. He was also a Florida Supreme Court certified mediator. Judge Humphries is an “AV” rated attorney by Martindale-Hubbell, the highest rating awarded by that organization.
Judge Humphries has previously served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Florida Association of Defense Counsel and also chaired its Workers’ Compensation committee. He was a charter member of the E. Robert Williams Inn’s of Court and is presently serving as its President-elect.
Judge Humphries has frequently lectured since his appointment. Presentations have been made to the Florida Workers Advocates, the E. Robert Williams Inn of Court, employer groups and at the annual Worker’s Compensation Educational Conference in Orlando. In 2015, he presented on the subject of judicial demeanor at the Tennessee Workers’ Compensation Conference. He has also frequently served as a Judge at the Earle Zehmer Moot Court Competition held annually in Orlando.
