David serves as a Workers' Compensation Claims Consultant for EMC Insurance Companies where he oversees the technical aspects of Claims Branch Operations for 9 Branches and 15 States. He provides training on Reserving, Investigations, Subrogation, Settlement Evaluations, Negotiations, Litigation Management, and Claim Resolutions. He has taught numerous Risk Management and Claims classes for the Insurance School of Chicago including Risk Financing, Loss Control, Liability, Property and Workers' Compensation. He is a member of the APCI Workers' Compensation Committee and the Iowa Local Chapter of CPCU. He joined CLM as a member of the Workers’ Compensation Advisory Board in 2020.
He is the author of several books on Workers’ Compensation as a part of the Larson Series through Matthew Bender LexisNexis.
He began his career as a licensed private investigator in Orlando Florida, subsequently returning to Chicago working as an insurance adjuster for ITT Hartford. He has worked as a Claims Supervisor for Third Party Administrators and Insurance Carriers throughout his career.
He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin and an MBA from DePaul University in Chicago. He earned his CPCU from The Institute in 2016 and is a Senior Claims Law Associate.
