Mr. Chazen primarily handles construction and real estate law and has represented all sides of these types of disputes, including developers, general contractors, trade contractors, owners, and buyers. Mr. Chazen works with his clients at all stages of a project, from site planning and the drafting of contract and project documents through actual construction, the sales process, and litigation that often arises during and after the construction phase. Mr. Chazen also works with his clients to develop risk management strategy, business and project planning, and dispute resolution prior to the initiation of litigation.
Alex Chazen was the winner of the 2020 CLM Professional of the Year – Young Outside Counsel. He has been published and also been featured in CLM Construction Claims and CLM Magazine, and is the author of CLM’s California Construction Claims Resources Wiki. Outside of CLM, Mr. Chazen is the Chair of the OCBA’s Construction Section, has been published in the ABA Construction Section’s magazine, Under Construction, and is a monthly columnist in the Bay Window Magazine.
Mr. Chazen graduated from the University of California at Irvine and received his J.D. from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles. While at Loyola, Mr. Chazen was an Associate Justice on the Scott Moot Court Honors Board, as well as a student attorney in the Loyola Law School Tax Appeals Assistance Program. Mr. Chazen also worked as a volunteer law clerk for the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office in Central Trials.
Mr. Chazen lives in Newport Beach with his wife and two children. In his free time, he enjoys coaching youth soccer, cheering for the Dodgers, Clippers, and Chelsea FC, and spending time at the beach with his family.
