Edward J. Batis, Jr., is an experienced civil litigator with over 25 years of experience in Texas. Mr. Batis was initially engaged in the private practice of law from 1983 to 1986, in Illinois then from 1986 to 2005, in San Antonio, TX, concentrating in defense of construction, professional liability and employment claims, including discrimination, unfair labor practices and worker-related risk. From 2005 until joining Jones, Andrews & Ortiz in 2012, Mr. Batis served as General Counsel of a 65 year old, over 1000+ employee, family-owned business, with 14 multi-state corporate entities/operations in the roofing, construction and home improvement industry. Mr. Batis’s current area of practice with the Firm includes complex commercial litigation, construction defect claims, completed operations and professional errors/omissions defense. Mr. Batis also practices in the employment related area, including FLSA, EEOC and general HR-related claims. In 2018, Mr. Batis earned the CLMP designation for Certified Litigation Management Professional. He is licensed to practice in State courts for Texas, Illinois and Oklahoma. He is also licensed in Federal court in both Texas and Oklahoma.
