Leslie Smith

Biography

 
Leslie Smith has enjoyed a diverse career in healthcare claims and risk management.  She worked in claims at Farmers Insurance, TDC, Octagon Risk Management, and Sedgwick Claims Services representing large hospital systems, small rural hospitals, and physicians in multiple jurisdictions.  As a risk management advisor to hospitals in Southern California, she provided educational programs on medical legal issues and helped hospitals prepare for Joint Commission reviews.  In 2012, Leslie worked with the HealthInsight Hospital Engagement Network on a patient safety initiative to reduce hospital readmissions, patient falls, and hospital related infections.  In 2013, she successfully secured a grant from The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services for two large OB groups to work on reducing the number of premature and low birth weight babies in Nevada.  Leslie received her undergraduate degree from Princeton University.  She then obtained her law degree from UCLA School of Law.   After many years in the workforce, Leslie completed the Master’s degree program in Public Health at University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Currently, Leslie works for ProAssurance in Healthcare Professional Liability Claims.
