Biography
John Lucas is the US Property & Casualty Claims team leader and manages a team of 15 claim handlers. John has over 21 years of experience in the insurance industry. John joined Sompo in November 2011 as an Assistant Vice President responsible for managing property and casualty claims across several books of business. Prior to joining Sompo, John was a Claims Manager at a Fortune 200 carrier for nearly eight years, where he managed several claims teams in multiple locations on various lines of business including a National E&S program book consisting of habitational/hospitality/leisure/retail risks, in addition to Rail Road Liability. John began his insurance career at a Fortune 400 insurer, where he was a claims professional in the National Accounts Unit. Over the course of five plus years at another insurer as a Special Accounts Claims specialist, John managed claims for large clients. John holds a BA in Biology from the University of NY, College at Oswego, and a MS in Health Services Administration from the New School for Social Research (NY). John is a member of the Defense Research Institute (DRI) and the International Association of Claim Professionals (IACP) and is a CLM Fellow.
