Biography

Gaetan J. Alfano is a named partner with Pietragallo Gordon Alfano Bosick & Raspanti, LLP.  The immediate past Chancellor of the Philadelphia Bar Association, Mr. Alfano was recently inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers (2017)--an organization dedicated to recognizing the finest civil and criminal trial lawyers in the United States and Canada.
Prior to entering private practice, he served as Assistant District Attorney, during which time he tried cases on a near-daily basis.  In private practice, Mr. Alfano has been consistently recognized as a top commercial litigator by his peers.  He has extensive trial and appellate experience in commercial and employment disputes, insurance insolvency and receivership law, as well as complex white collar criminal defense.  He has tried hundreds of cases to verdict in both federal and state courts.  While in his capacity as Chancellor of the Philadelphia Bar Association, Mr. Alfano sponsored the Philadelphia Bar Association’s support for the Philadelphia ordinance to ban questions on salary history.
Practicing law for 30+ years in the Philadelphia area, Mr. Alfano has amassed a long record of accomplishments. Highlights include:                                            

  • U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania appointed Mr. Alfano as counsel for the Securities Exchange Commission (SEC) Receiver in a nationwide Ponzi scheme
  • Served as a Senior Member of the Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania
  • Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf appointed Mr. Alfano in 2016 to serve on the Judicial Selection Commission to fill vacant positions in the state’s appellate courts
  • Nominated and rated by his peers as a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer from 2004 to 2017 every year—an honor reserved  for only  5% of the Pennsylvania Bar
Heavily involved in community service, Mr. Alfano has served on a number of boards of charitable organizations.
Mr. Alfano received his law degree from Villanova University School of Law.
