William Daugherty

Biography

Will Daugherty is a member of the firm’s Chambers USA-ranked Privacy and Data Protection team. He works with clients to develop and implement information security compliance programs and incident response plans, and to respond to data breaches and other security incidents. Will also advises clients on a range of data privacy issues spanning the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, the Health Information Portability and Accountability Act, the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, the Controlling the Assault of Non-Solicited Pornography And Marketing Act, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and global data protection laws. His depth of experience is also global in scope and across many industries, including consumer electronics, energy, financial services, health care, oil and gas, retail, and technology. Drawing on his extensive experience representing companies in connection with government investigations and enforcement actions as well as his experience as in-house counsel, Will provides companies that have experienced security incidents with business-focused, practical solutions that minimize regulatory and litigation risk.

Will spent the first eight years of his career with an AmLaw 5 firm before joining a Fortune 500 company as senior counsel, where he developed a business-minded approach to clients’ needs. Will has also earned the designation of Certified Information Privacy Professional through the International Association of Privacy Professionals.
