Erin Kang

Biography

Erin Kang is head actuary, excess casualty and reinsurance, at American International Group Inc. where she leads an actuarial group to support business lines such as excess casualty, health care and environmental in addition to supporting reinsurance. Until September 2017, she was chief underwriting officer of personal insurance with more than $11 billion of premium globally. She was in charge of pricing and underwriting and drove advancement in analytics to create a sustainable and profitable portfolio. Prior to that role, she led the pricing and analytics group for global casualty at AIG and greatly enhanced analytics and pricing capabilities to help underwriters effectively manage their portfolios and make smart decisions with each transaction. In September 2016, Erin was elected as president of AIG’s Women and Allies ERG, New York Chapter, which has more than 900 members. Erin is also a graduate of AIG’s inaugural Women’s Executive Leadership Initiative and recipient of the 2015 Outstanding Women Achievement Award, which recognizes the outstanding achievements and contributions of AIG women in all facets of their company experience from the lens of leadership, courage and collaboration. Erin came to AIG from Chubb, where she served as vice president and actuary. She spent more than 11 years at Chubb and was responsible for commercial lines pricing as well as capital modeling, agency compensation and establishing performance metrics for the business units. She has nearly 20 years of experience in the insurance industry and holds a B.S. in statistics from Ewha University in Seoul, South Korea. She is a fellow of Casualty Actuarial Society and a member of American Academy of Actuaries.
