Barbara Serafini

Biography

Barbara Serafini is a Senior Vice President at GB Specialty – a division of Gallagher Bassett, where she manages a complex caseload of professional liability claims against lawyers, insurance agents and brokers and title agents on behalf of several different carriers. Barbara’s claims include several matters with considerable exposure and significant coverage issues. Barbara enjoys analyzing coverage and formulating resolution strategies for her claims and cares deeply about getting the best possible result for each claim as quickly as possible and in the most cost-effective manner. Toward that end, Barbara negotiates settlements with claimants and their counsel and manages defense counsel for policyholders. Barbara participates in numerous mediations and settlement conferences and monitors trials, providing detailed reports to management concerning witness testimony, potential for exposure, coverage issues and any settlement opportunities. Barbara is also responsible for overseeing and training junior claims counsel in the non-medical professional claims department.
Prior to joining GB Specialty, Barbara was the Assistant Vice President of RPS Plus Companies, formerly known as the Plus Companies, Inc., handling multiple professional liability claims for various product lines. Previously, Barbara was a Senior Claims Specialist at Liberty International Underwriters where she also handled professional liability claims against attorneys and insurance agents and brokers. Barbara started her insurance career as an associate at Wilson Elser, LLP working as coverage and monitoring counsel for a London-based insurer.
