Biography

Jason L. Beckerman is an established trial attorney who has spent nearly two decades aggressively defending contractors, construction managers and developers in high-exposure, complex litigation.  The construction and insurance industry continues to be greatly impacted by the ever expanding regulations of the New York State Labor Law, also known as the “Scaffold Law”, and constant increases in self-insured retentions.  Jason and his team have developed a strong reputation within the industry for providing sophisticated and creative defenses to these claims, and his clients regularly turn to him to defend multi-million dollar lawsuits to reduce the potential exposure.  His clients include multi-national, national and regional contractors and developers.  Through partnerships with his clients and their insurers, Jason and his team are able to deliver the highest possible level of legal services and results to minimize exposure, while at the same time controlling defense costs through efficient and well planned defense strategies.

Though the Labor Law has been the focus of his practice, Jason has significant experience with construction defect claims (having defended some of the largest, high-profile claims in New York), property damage, general liability, environmental and other tort claims.

Jason is a former chair of the Insurance Committee for the New York County Lawyers Association, and is a member of the Brooklyn Bar Association.  He is a frequent lecturer on issues surrounding the Labor Law as well as work site accident investigations.  He has authored articles regarding legal reform of the New York State Labor Law.  Jason was formerly the Administrative Managing Partner for the New York general litigation group of a large multi-national law firm.  In 2017, he was recognized as the “Attorney of the Year” by one of his multi-national construction clients.
