Biography
Deborah Baker was appointed by Governor J. B. Pritzker to serve as an Arbitrator for the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission. Prior to her appointment, Arbitrator Baker worked as the Assistant Deputy Chief Legal Counsel and Agency Ethics Officer for the Illinois Department of Corrections; In-House Litigation Counsel at UpRight Law; Assistant Attorney General for the Office of the Attorney General in Chicago; an Associate at Goldberg Weisman Cairo (GWC), a Petitioner/Plaintiff injury law firm; and a Staff Attorney at the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission. Currently, Arbitrator Baker is a member of the Workers’ Compensation Lawyers Association; the Illinois State Bar Association; the Chicago Bar Association; the Black Women Lawyers’ Association; the Women’s Bar Association of Illinois; and the National Association of Women Lawyers.
