La Tonya Y. Darby, Professional Liability and Risk Management Consultantant, RCM&D
La Tonya Darby is a Professional Liability and Risk Management Consultant with RCM&D. Ms. Darby has a Juris Doctor degree, a Bachelor of Arts degree from Georgetown University, and 26 years’ experience in the insurance industry. She is a consultant for the healthcare industry and is currently consulting on Medical Malpractice litigation. Prior to joining RCM&D, Ms. Darby was a National Constructuon Defect and Major Claims litigation Manager for Tristar Risk Management where she managed Senior Claims Professionals who handled high exposure complex construct defect, general and liquor liability litigation. La Tonya provides training in a number of areas including coverage, claims handling, investigation, file documentation, negotiating, risk transfer, litigation management and bad faith. Prior to joining Tristar, La Tonya was a Claims Superintendent at Admiral Insurance Company, a W.R. Berkley company, where she supervised and handled high exposure construction defect and professional liability litigation on a nationwide basis. She also conducted in-house seminars on emerging case law and trends in construction defect and toxic tort litigation. La Tonya was also a Settlement Master/Civil Case Manager for the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas where she mediated cases on behalf of the judiciary for the Day Forward Program. She has held senior level and management positions at Philadelphia Insurance Company, Cigna Property and Casualty and St. Paul Insurance Company where she handled/oversaw high exposure commercial toxic tort, environmental and professional liability claims/litigation.
La Tonya was on the Executive Board of Women’s Construction Litigation Alliance (WCLA), and she was the Director of Education for the South Jersey Chapter of Claims and Litigation Management Alliance (CLM). She is a regular speaker at various industry conferences, and is an adjunct professor who teaches Composition and Research.
