Scott Bell

Biography

Mr. Bell is an attorney in Liberty Mutual’s Corporate Legal Department in Boston, Massachusetts. Prior to joining Liberty Mutual in 2008, Mr. Bell was a Partner at the firm of Morrison Mahoney in Boston.  Mr. Bell received his B.A. from the College of the Holy Cross in 1991, and his Juris Doctor, with honors, from Suffolk University Law School in 1994.  After law school, Mr. Bell’s practice focused on plaintiff’s work.  However, by 1998, he had joined Zizik, LaSalle & Powers and began handling insurance defense.  Since that time, including after joining Morrison Mahoney in 2001, Mr. Bell defended cases involving professional liability, product liability, construction, personal injury, employment practices liability, insurance coverage, and contractual issues.  In Mr. Bell’s present role as Counsel for Liberty Mutual’s Enterprise Legal Services Market Relations Group, he assists in marketing Liberty Mutual’s legal services and provides legal consultation to both Liberty’s Strategic Business Units and customers regarding litigation management issues, law firm services and performance metrics.  Mr. Bell also leads quality audits of law firms to ensure compliance with legal/billing standards and that firms achieve effective outcomes; manages multiple Liberty Mutual panels, including environmental, compliance, property, and energy; participates in and oversees several countrywide expense management initiatives, including alternative fee arrangements; and prepares and conducts training sessions for internal and external clients.  Mr. Bell has been a speaker at other key insurance industry events concerning litigation management topics.
