Dean Harring

Biography

Dean K. Harring, CPCU, retired in 2013 as the Executive Vice President and Chief Claims Officer at QBE North America in New York.  He has over 40 years of experience as a Claims senior executive with companies such as Liberty Mutual, Commercial Union, Providence Washington, Zurich North America, CNA, GAB Robins, and QBE.
 
Mr. Harring is a graduate of Bowdoin College, Brunswick, Maine, and has completed management training at the Kellogg School of Northwestern University, advanced management training at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and post-graduate training in Learning, Design, and Technology at Penn State University (with a focus on instructional design and online learning). He earned his Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation in 1980 and his Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation in 1992.
 
He currently is an Advisor with Suite 200 Solutions where he helps claims operations, TPAs, and insurance tech and service providers optimize operations, enhance value propositions, and identify marketplace challenges and opportunities. He also serves as Chief Strategy Officer of their Transaction Advisory Group and sits on the Advisory Boards of Injury Claims Express, ClaimEdge, and G4S/Allied.  
 
He has prior board service with the National Insurance Crime Bureau, the American Insurance Association Claim Administration committee, Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Maryland, the Community Law Center, and Arbitration Forums, Inc. He is also a former member of the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance (CLM) executive board, and he received the CLM Lifetime Achievement Award in 2013.
 
Dean also operates Harring Watercolors, an art studio that specializes in commissioned keepsake and memorial watercolor portraits of special animals.
