Michelle Poirier

Biography

Michelle has over 35 years of experience as an insurance claims leader. She began her career as an assistant at Economical Mutual Insurance Company In Halifax, Nova Scotia.  She brings strong technical coverage expertise and is currently a diplomatic, committed, and experienced Casualty Claims Specialist with TMHCC.  She has dynamic analytical, problem solving and communications skills along with a diverse background in the insurance industry in both Canada and the US.  
 
Michelle worked with Provincial Governments in Canada to establish Provincial handling protocols for all legislative caps on general damages, in an effort to establish affordable rates of insurance for the public through Provincial Auto Insurance regimes.  This led to a more consistent approach in the handling and litigation of auto bodily injury losses.  Her handling protocols and provincial legislated caps were upheld by the Supreme Court of Canada in a charter challenge funded by the plaintiff bar.
 
Michelle has claims handling experience in all lines of business.  Specializing in multi-line claims handling, project management, and customer service. She has a long history as a motivated independent self-starter with a track record of taking ownership of problematic or new processes and delivering success through organization and process development in all aspects of file management, early recognition of claim qualification, and appropriate expense management.  Currently Michelle holds a designation in Medical Rehabilitation Management and currently specializes in complex coverage and high severity catastrophic claims in the general liability, construction, umbrella and multimillion dollar wrap business lines.
