Biography
Shantel Dixon is a Senior Claims Specialist and Counsel for Markel. She handles
Employment Practices Liability and Directors & Officers Liability claims for insureds
nationwide.
Shantel is based out of the Florida panhandle. Shantel began her career in the claims”
world in 2005 in Mississippi, just days before Hurricane Katrina. While being based in
the panhandle, she experienced Hurricane Michael and its impact on claims.
Prior to accepting a claims position, Shantel was an insurance defense attorney
practicing with a civil defense firm in Jackson, Mississippi, in the federal and state
courts, as well as the tribal courts. She defended wrongful death cases and handled
police pursuit defense matters for the municipalities of Mississippi.
Shantel received her law degree from Mississippi College School of Law in Jackson in
2001. Her undergraduate degree was obtained from the University of South Alabama in
Mobile in 1998.
