Chandra Vedak, MD

Biography

Dr. Chandra Vedak is a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and Clinical Associate Professor of Psychiatry at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science  (RFUMS)/The Chicago Medical School. He has been teaching Biological Basis of Psychiatry and Advanced Psychopharmacology for over 3 decades at the RFUMS and has received numerous teaching awards from the residents. He also served as a Co-director of Residency training in Psychiatry for 10 years. He has been in clinical practice of psychiatry for over 3 decades and has been a two-time recipient of “Outstanding Psychiatrist of the Year” award by National Association of Mentally Ill (NAMI), Illinois Chapter. 

Dr. Vedak has been a Chairman and Medical Director of Psychiatry at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital since 2014. He has also been a Medical Director of Horizons Behavioral Health for over 25 years. Additionally, he serves as a Chief Medical Officer of A Safe Haven and was recently elected to the Board of A Safe Haven Foundation, a 501(c)3 not for profit, social enterprise that helps people ASPIRE. TRANSFORM. and SUSTAIN¨ their lives as they transition from homelessness to self-sufficiency with pride and purpose.
