Jennifer Baker began her career in claims at Unisun Insurance Company in 1998 working as an express claims adjuster learning the basics of the insurance business. She received extensive training in liability claims and often took the role as a substitute for her supervisor. She continued her career at SC Farm Bureau where she became a trained insurance appraiser- learning the automobile from front to back through on the job training in body shops and drive in appraisal appointments.
Jennifer decided to leave the staff company insurance career to pursue a job with an independent insurance adjusting firm (ISAC) where she grew into the position of Material Damage Supervisor. As Material Damage Supervisor, Jennifer was responsible for contacting, securing, and monitoring an appraisal network in three states and supervised 10 adjusters. In addition, Jennifer was responsible for claim check distribution, monthly accounting reports and special case auditing for several Third-Party Administrators.
When Rick Adair and Ed Horne founded Adair Horne & Associates in 2006, Jennifer was hired as the Claims Manager, which is her current position. While in this leadership role, she has become especially involved in continuing claims education with a focus on trends in regional claims environments.
Two ways in which Jennifer has promoted claims education and at the same time served other claims professionals has been by serving on the boards of the Charleston Area Claim Association and the South Carolina Claims Managers Association (CMASC). Over the years she has held every office in the CMASC and continues to plan their annual meetings, recruit speakers, and seek sponsorships. While working with the CMASC in 2008, Jennifer was approached to become involved with CLM as SC State Chair, which is a position she held through 2013.
On a personal note, Jennifer is married and enjoys working at her farm and with her 4 horses.
