Biography

I am an experienced litigator who, for the past ten years have been investigating and defending claims and lawsuits against companies and individuals alike. My experience in this area is not limited to the courtroom or conference room. I have been actively involved in investigating losses by speaking to witnesses, consulting with experts and attending examinations. This approach enabled me to grasp the entire potential loss exposure in a claim or lawsuit and consequently properly advise the client about the true nature and extent of a loss so that costs can be managed and minimized.

  If a claim reaches litigation, I have been actively involved in the decision making and participation in motion practice and discovery. I strongly believe that constant client interaction and participation is imperative in the management of litigation. Understanding the expectations of counsel and the claims manager must occur to garner a successful result. Often times, the hardest thing to do as a competent attorney is to acknowledge the weaknesses of a case and advise that the most cost effective way to end a claim or lawsuit is to settle. When warranted however, I have had success deposing and excluding expert witnesses, developing defense strategies based on witness and expert depositions I have taken and significantly reduced exposure based on testimony at deposition or successful pre-trial motions. I am a regular author of the products liability column for the Illinois Association of Defense Counsel and Defense Research Institute.
