Biography

Michael Mattix has thirty-two years experience in the insurance industry, beginning his career as an attorney in private practice specializing in insurance defense matters.  He has more than 20 years experience in managing primary, excess and reinsurance claims with an emphasis in both personal and commercial property and casualty lines, as well as workers compensation and professional liability claims.  Michael was named General Counsel and  Chief Claims Officer for Armed Forces Insurance in 2011 and Chief Underwriting Officer in 2013.

Prior to his association with Armed Forces Michael spent nearly 25 years with Swiss Re (formerly known as Employers Reinsurance)  During his tenure, he created and managed a state-of-the-art claims and financial transactional audit team, as well as a claim consulting group.  He is a recognized expert in claims management, process redesign and effecting change within organizations, and is a frequent speaker at industry events.
