Biography
Kevin is a founding equity partner of Luzuriaga Mims, LLP. Kevin has been involved with the defense of numerous complex construction defect cases, representing general contractors, developers, subcontractors, and owners in disputes ranging from single family residences to larger commercial and multi-family projects. His practice also includes products liability, general civil litigation, and defending concurrent jurisdiction claims brought under the South Carolina Workers' Compensation Act and the Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation Act. Kevin is also certified as a Circuit Court Mediator by the South Carolina Supreme Court. With over 12 years of litigation experience Kevin has a unique skill set that allows him to mediate cases from complex construction and commercial litigation to claims to claims arising under the South Carolina Workers' Compensation Act.
Kevin was born in Sumter, South Carolina and grew up in Kingstree, South Carolina. He is a 1998 cum laude graduate of The University of South Carolina and a 2001 graduate of the University of South Carolina School of Law.
Kevin enjoys an AV Preeminent peer review rating from Martindale-Hubbell, and was selected to the South Carolina Rising Stars List in 2014 and 2016, a distinction awarded to only the top 2.5% of attorneys in the state for exhibiting excellence in practice. He is a member of the Charleston County Bar Association, the American Bar association, and the South Carolina Bar Association, including the Tort & Insurance Practice Section and the Construction Law Section. He also holds memberships in the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys' Association, the Defense Research Institute, the South Carolina Self- Insurer's Association, the South Carolina Maritime Association, and the South Carolina Workers' Compensation Educational Association. Kevin previously served as the Ninth Circuit Representative for the YLD of the South Carolina Bar and on its committee for professional development.
