Biography

Nichol is a partner in the Dallas office of Lewis, Brisbois, Bisgaard & Smith, LLP where she handles professional liability claims with an emphasis on healthcare providers.Nichol obtained her Bachelor of Science from the University of Texas in 1991. She received her Juris Doctorate from the University of Texas School of Law in 1994 where she graduated Order of the Barristers and was a charter member and Notes Editor of the Intellectual Property Law Journal.Nichol is a past adjunct at the University of Texas Law School and a current guest lecturer at Southern Methodist University where she teaches mock trial. She also serves as CLM's Co-Chair for the state of Texas and President of CLM's Dallas Chapter. In addition, Nichol serves as an officer on the Board of EWL, a non-profit organization that raises money for non-traditional women students.  Nichol also serves on the Board of Susan G. Komen - Dallas.
Nichol's legal experience includes: Almost 20 years representing long term care facilities in Texas - obtaining defense verdicts at trial both pre and post tort reform. Obtained dismissals of lawsuits at the trial court level and on interlocutory appeal with the recovery of attorneys' fees. Also successfully defended these dismissals on appeal. Obtained a positive ruling from the Texas Supreme Court on behalf of a clinical laboratory client. Obtained a favorable result in a case against a medical device distributor in a products liability case with multi-million dollar exposure. Successfully defended healthcare institutions in employment matters including claims of wrongful termination, non-subscriber injuries, defamation, EEOC, and ADA. Successfully defended healthcare institutions involving ERISA claims in arbitration. Obtained favorable results in non-medical cases brought against healthcare facilities including premises liability claims and lawsuits involving facility owned vehicles.
