Biography

Norma Newell is Runoff Complex Claims Manager for FM Global.  Ms. Newell’s responsibilities include: formulating and implementing claim resolution and litigation strategy; managing litigation and arbitration involving ceded and assumed claims; handling complex collection matters; leading investigations on complex liability claims and issues; reviewing and interpreting treaties, facultative certificates, management agreements, complex reinsurance arrangements, and pooling agreements; evaluating traditional and complex claims (including asbestos, toxic tort, and hazardous waste claims); retaining and managing outside counsel; reserving and claims disposition; leading audit and special projects; providing legal advice to staff and management; and representing the company at hearings and trials. Ms. Newell has been with FM Global for 13 years. Prior to joining FM Global, Ms. Newell was at Hartford and in private practice.
